Annual Visit Local Schools
Firefighters and EMTs from stations 26 and 57 visited with students and teachers at the Chicora Elementary School and the Holy Trinity Preschool the week of October 11.
Students viewed the equipment and tools carried on the department’s ladder truck and ambulance, and they got to see the ladder in action.
EMTs showed the students through the ambulance and demonstrated blood pressure cuffs and backboards to the students.
Veteran CFD Fire Policeman Dies
CFD member Ron Pistorius died on September 29, 2010. Ron served many years as a fire policeman for the department.
He was very active in the department’s fund raising activities, and he was a member of the building committee for our current station.
Department president Jim Campbell led members in a memorial service at the Hile Funeral Home during which the Butler Communication
Center broadcast the traditional “last call.” Department apparatus also participated in the funeral procession. As the procession
passed by the fire station, the station’s bell rang out 3-3-3, signifying that Ron had returned to quarters.
